Design Technology
Class 6 Kayak Inc. (C6K) is developing urban whitewater and kayaking centers throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
- C6K takes advantage of the huge growth in the adventure markets by use of an exclusive design of high technology steel reinforced fiberglass courses.
- The courses, which are installed above ground, simulate the most challenging rivers in the world.
- The system design allows for courses to be of any length and contour with high rock formations and boulders.
- A conveyor system moves paddlers from the finish or end pool up to the starting pool.
- The difficulty level of the course can be changed from class I to class V by hydraulic lifters located throughout the course, as well as changing the water pressure through the use of hydro flow pumps.
- The courses are1,000–5,000 feet in length and 25–50 feet in width. The water depth ranges 3–8 feet allowing for maneuvers and special events. The end pool also serves as a flat-water training facility.
- C6K does not use any water from river or other natural sources. The water is passed through a heavy filtration system and filtered before being used again in the course.
- The design and technology employed includes features to ensure the safety of paddlers including emergency shut-off and draining and underwater video monitoring.
